Everyone near and dear to us, know the battle we have fought over the last 10 years with Shannons cancer journey. We still arent out of the woods yet but are in a much better place then 10 years ago. This February marks 5 years without treatment for Shannon, a place that seemed so far away not that long ago and fingers crossed we continue this way! We want to give back to the cancer council and hopefully help someone else get to this point as well.
We currently have some very close and loved friends fighting similar battles and we would love to be able do something in honour of them as well.
If you can spare it please get onboard and help us help others! Also looking for awesome sponsors!
We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2020 Spring!! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Mackay to Darwin, seems like it was meant to be!
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 11th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the 2020 Spring rally target set at $2,000,000 plus.
These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, over a 7 day across Australia endeavour to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
What an amazing and heart warming response we have had. It is truly humbling and we are so so grateful. We wont let you down... stay tuned for our shitbox reveal.
Okay, we are narrowing down the "shitbox" search. Here are a few options we are looking at, feel free to canvas your friends to see if they might have anything in the back yard suitable. It needs to be under a $1000 and two wheel drive. My favourite is the white XE ford ute.
In preperation for the resumption of the shitbox rally we are starting up a facebook page to help with fundraising. It has became almost impossible for people to donate in the current environment we are living in. Team Rawburns will be offering heavily discounted services in the form of rural services, mowing, home improvements, basic mechanical services and welding. We will be offering the above for a donation to our cause. If you know anyone who might be looking for these service please let them know.
And the winner is....... A genuine 1982 Toyoya Celica in original condition complete with pop up lights! Very kindly donated to our cause by a local Mackay family we didnt even know. The kindness of people through this entire process has truely been humbling. We hope we do you all proud!
Very lux interior!

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $24 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
